Stove Skirt

I had no clue the stove skirt was porcelain until I was ready to re-paint it! I thought it was painted with flat black paint. All I did was scrub ours with a SOS pad and 50+ years of grime came right off. It looks brand new! The inside of the oven came out sparkling with just a bottle of ammonia, a package of steel wool and 2 hours of patient and steady scrubbing. My hands however, are a mess!
Before you commit to professional cosmetic help, it pays to try cleaning thoroughly and carefuly first with quality cleaners and lots of elbow grease! These are high quality stoves which restore beautifuly.

Wow, good job! Good to keep in mind.

On a note about red stoves: a friend called a reporcelainer today and asked about having her stove redone in red. Did you know they told her it's against the law now to make them in red? Might just be another wacky California law (heavens knows we have some of the wackiest) but I was very surprised to hear that.

Am curious for those who know: what models came with skirts? How would you know if yours came with one but it had been removed/lost ??

I have also heard that the only place to get RED porcelain is Mexico due to EPA rules. Don't know if it is true, Just what THEY said.

All B's and C's had BASE Panels. Lots got lost in moves.
